Team work is a big key to make sure that the company will work together and can work together. Knowledge sharing is a big key in the business world today. We need to always continue to learn never stop. If an employee can keep learning then he is more valuable then another because in 5 years he will be smarter than any employee you have one that doesn’t want to keep learning.
Ethics is touched in this chapter and I thought that it would e a little bigger deal then this because people are not very ethical these days and we all ne to be have more ethics and be more responsible in our lives and business.
Do you think that more than 50% of business do something illegally every day or not?

ch15 managing human resources globally
Training in other countries is one of the things that this chapter talks about. Some of the things it said was know your goals and make sure it is clear what they are suppose to do overseas. Know the local laws over there. Keep an eye on quality you need to plan and train the trainer’s overseas takes more time and needs to be good. If they are not trained well then others will not work properly there also.
I just watched on TV how cruise liners don’t have a ship an American ship because it will cost more to have them there instead of a 3rd world country. They can save millions of taxes and fees or wages in American where if the ships home port is in Mexico, the wages and workers are willing to work for les money. A lot better way to run a business.
Do you thing that we will have a problem with having the company be from another country. Like if a death or something happens and you need to be taken care of, is this a potential problem?

Reflection
We talked about unions and how they are good and bad. I think that it is weird that France you can’t fire people for any reason or it is very hard to get rid of people. I am also glad that we had the activity it changed the class up a little and help me learn better.
A union is good in some cases and bad in some cases.

ch 14 collective bargaining and labor relation
This chapter talks about unions and how they work in regards to nations unions or local unions. And all that they really are is a group or association that seeks the advance the shared interests of its member unions at the nation or local levels. In my opinion all that they are is an organized strike because they want things and if they don’t get it then everyone stops working and the union wins. In a way that is good but in the case of Chevrolet where they had to file bankrupts so they can stay alive. At the time when all this was going the union got a good deal but now it sucks for all those people. And what happened.
Question have you ever worked in a union and what do you think about them?

We all don't fit the mold for benefits, we all need different things in our benefits package. because we all have different things that drive us.There are those employers out there that are willing to give different packages to make our lives better.
Imagine that you are living with you partner and you have health insurance and they don't. You are not married so the normal benefits package does not apply to you. What do you do?
KEY POINTS:
They are so many things that can be mixed and matched in a benefits package. Paid leave, workers comp, paid holidays, paid vacation, retirement plans.
FACILITATED QUESTION:
What would be your ideal mix and match be for benefits be?

CH 12 Recognizing Employee Contributions with Pay
The paying of an employee is a tricky subject because people want more money and employers want more work out of them. This is why people are not allowed to talk about how much people make because if you do then others will want more money but in the eye of the employer they don’t deserve it. And then there are goals and incentives that bosses try to go people to work harder and make more money for more pay. This is what my boss does he pays us on how we produce so the pay it totally up to us and he just set that scale. I think it is great because if I’m really close to a pay grade then I will try and make it to that spot to make more money for my time.
Question. Do you think people like to just come to work and get paid for the stuff they do so is it better to have your pay be based on your production.

ch 11 establish a pay structure
1. Concept and Brief Description
2. Emotional Hook (provocative question/claim/real-life problem)
3. Key Points to Elicit in Discussion
4. Facilitative Questions
1. Wages are interesting thing here in Utah because the minimum wage is way under what people really need to make. I think it is around 7 and I think a person needs to make closer to 10 every hour. One of the things that it talked about in the chapter was deciding what to pay people. People will always want more money for less work and owners will want more work less pay. So we need to find that special medium.
2. Have you ever negotiated a starting wage or pay increase with your boss?
3. I remember my first job in high school I didn’t make much but I liked my job so I work there for a long time and it was nice. People these days don’t keep a minimum wage job very long. They will like it so they stay or they will leave and go somewhere else.
4. have you worked for a company that you thought you would get this much money and they in fact was a lot less ( summer sales )..?
